		<description>Well, that&#039;s the thing, it&#039;s *not* disabled by default in IE. Probably 95% of the visitors to the site I was working on had no trouble. But the fact that it kept coming up led me to dig into it and figure this out.</description>

		<description>That setting has been disabled in Opera as well, for as long as they were supporting it.  It seems that TLS 1.2 uses a different hashing algorithm (SHA-256) than the earlier versions (SHA-1 or MD5).  My guess is that it&#039;s just a sane default until it can be forced through (i.e. when everyone and everything on both the client side and the server side have definite, working support for it).</description>
